The Honors Program provides a series of enriched courses for students who want to
enhance their education. Developed to attract academically gifted students to the
College, any student, regardless of their major, can participate.
The Honors Program offers a series of enriched courses. Our courses include enhancements
in order to provide students an opportunity to learn at a higher level than non-Honors
courses. Honors courses provide more time for class discussions and the sharing of
ideas, more abstract thinking, and exposure to material that will better prepare students
for the challenges of upper-level college work. In essence, Honors courses are more
interesting. They are not harder, they are better. All of the students in an Honors
class are bright, academic achievers who are highly motivated and excellent learners.
The whole classroom atmosphere is more conducive to learning.
Students graduating from high school should have at least a 90 GPA,competitive SAT/ACT
scores and mastery level achievement on multiple Regents Examinations.
From within NCC:
NCC students who achieve a 3.5 GPA will be invited to join theProgram. The admissions
decision is based on the “whole student.” Students who are close to the admissions
requirements are encouraged to apply by sending an email expressing your interest
to HonorsProgram@ncc.edu. Alternate evidence of academic excellence may be considered.
