I was hired as an adjunct professor at NCC in 2000, at the age of 25. I've taught Environmental Science, Physical Science, Geology and Astronomy. I also co-advise the Astronomy Club and coordinate our Biannual Astronomy Night. In 2015 I was elected Chair of my department. After serving as the honors coordinator, I now chair the honors committee. In addition to astronomy, some of my areas of interest are biofuels and beach erosion.

My fondest memories at NCC are of our Astronomy Nights (which are on hold during Covid and the renovation of the planetarium). It is a three-hour event each semester that includes planetarium shows and mini lectures conducted by faculty and honors astronomy students. Students, faculty and staff attend. Many of the NCC community come to every single one. I have even watched their kids grow up before my eyes. I love when former students, who have presented in past nights, come back to visit.

NCC is special to me because of the students and my colleagues. The students are all here for different reasons but many of them begin to shine when they attend NCC. I have kept every letter, card and email from my students and am so happy when they let me know that I had a positive role in their life. My colleagues, whether they are faculty or staff, are amazing and I think it is because we all share the same goal -- to give our students the tools to grow and succeed. I am constantly inspired by the people I work with.

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.

"I served in the United States Navy in San Diego from 2014 to 2021, first on the USS Harpers Ferry and then on the USS Rushmore. When it was time for me to attend college, I chose NCC because it's veteran friendly and offers many different programs.
