Veteran Ryan Kenny is the Salutatorian for the SUNY Nassau Community College Class of 2022
"I was attracted to SUNY Nassau because it was close to my home and it provided me with a great way to get my education started again after years of being out of school. The College helped me build an educational foundation, establish good study habits, and focus on completing my academic work. It also changed my perspective on education in general and expanded my understanding of the world around me. Although tough at times, my journey at SUNY Nassau has been a very positive, even invaluable one.
I would say my favorite memories of my time at Nassau Community College involve just being around other veterans at the Veteran's House on campus. We established and continue the camaraderie that we all experienced while serving.
My ultimate goal is to become a psychiatrist so that I can help people improve their lives utilizing evidence-based research."

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.
