For this week’s Professor Profile, we take a look at Professor Robert Field of the Art Department:
I have been teaching at NCC since 2002. My areas of expertise include Illustration, Graphic Design, Computer Graphics, Drawing, and 2D Design. I was inspired to share my knowledge with the students at NCC from my experience learning from my graduate school instructor at Syracuse University, the Late Great Prof. Murray Tinkelman. If I could bring even a fraction of the level of enthusiasm, knowledge, and love of subject matter that Prof. Tinkelman brought to his students, I figured I might be doing something right and for the right reasons. I'm just trying to honor his memory to the best of my ability and pay it forward.
I have had so many great experiences at NCC. There are too many to list. The students, for the most part, are dedicated and eager to learn. The group of students that I have this semester are exceptionally wonderful and hard working -- especially considering the challenges associated with a remote format. I am proud of what they have accomplished this semester.
Professor Carolyn Monastra teaches in the NCC Art Department. She has two climate-related websites, TheWitnessTree.org and DivergenceofBirds.org

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.

"I served in the United States Navy in San Diego from 2014 to 2021, first on the USS Harpers Ferry and then on the USS Rushmore. When it was time for me to attend college, I chose NCC because it's veteran friendly and offers many different programs.
