Congratulations to Olivia Biggs, another of the five Nassau Community College students who received a SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence this year. We are profiling each of our student winners to highlight their prestigious honor. Chancellor's Award recipients are honored for their outstanding achievements within many aspects of their lives such as academics, leadership, campus involvement, community service or the arts. It is the highest honor bestowed upon a student by SUNY.

"Being a recipient of the 2022 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student of Excellence has brought me hope for the integrity of society and even more motivation to stay persistent with my goals, as well as inspire others to achieve theirs. As Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg once said, “Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.
