I'm an Associate Professor in the Nursing Department. I have taught at Nassau Community
College for 13 years. However, I have been a member of the NCC community since 1975.
I moved from Chicago to Long Island in 1973 and applied to the NCC Nursing Program
in 1974. To my surprise, I was accepted for the Fall 1975 class. Like our nursing
students today, I was married with a two-year-old child and wondered, “How could I
possibly manage this?” With the support of my family and the NCC faculty, I graduated
in 1977. I started working as a RN at a local hospital in the Intensive Care Unit.
I went back to school after having two more children, earned a bachelor’s degree in
1994, a master’s degree in Science in 1999 and became an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
My fondest memory at NCC was working with our Chair Dr. Joan Buckley. We taught together
for several years and she involved me in the first Nursing COIL project Fall 2015.
This collaboration was with the nursing school of Glasgow Caledonian University in
Scotland. So, in January 2016, eight GCU nursing students came to NY to visit NCC
during the winter intercession. We borrowed one of the NCC physical education vans
to drive the students to the different events. Imagine two nursing professors driving
this van! Thanks to everyone in the NCC community, NCC Nursing was able to make sure
that these wonderful students had a visit to remember.
I have so much gratitude for the education I received at NCC and the opportunity to
share what I have learned over the years with my students. I started my nursing journey
at NCC in 1975 and I am still here. I have never regretted my choice of profession
or the school where it began.
I am a Liberal Arts major in my second year at NCC. The biggest reason why I chose Nassau Community College is that I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life after high school and saw NCC as the perfect place to explore that.

I am a Business Administration major in my second year at Nassau Community College. I chose to come to NCC mainly because of the value it offers. It provides a high-quality education at an affordable price.

I am a marketing major and will graduate in 2025. After a rough start at a large four-year university, I chose to attend Nassau Community College. It has a nice campus, a great community, and besides — my mom went here! My best experience so far has been my in-class presentations.

I transferred to NCC to pursue a degree in Nursing. After some sudden life-changing events I needed to be back home with my family. Nassau was the best educational opportunity for me, especially considering my chosen career path. One of my favorite experiences at the College so far has been forming a sense of community with my peers.

For my first semester of college, I attended a large university out of state. As the semester went on, I was feeling more and more detached from the experience. After some contemplation I decided that coming back home for college would be my best choice.

My major is Biology and I am in my second year at NCC. I originally came to Nassau Community College because of the smaller class sizes and proximity to my home but the terrific faculty and flexible class schedules are great as well. As a science major, I would have to say one of my favorite experiences at Nassau has been the hands-on work that we do in the labs during biology classes.
