Aliyah Flemmings is a student orientation leader this year.
“I am currently a sophomore majoring in Computer Science. I chose Nassau Community College because it was an affordable option that was close to home. I wanted to give myself time to figure out the career path I wanted to take and felt like NCC was the perfect choice for that. I became a student orientation leader so that I can help students feel comfortable and welcomed at Nassau. I did not attend an orientation at Nassau and wish I did so that I was more familiar with the College before my first day. My favorite memory from last year at NCC was the Spring Fest. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the free food and ice cream. One word that comes to mind to describe Nassau Community College is bridge – a bridge between high school and your four-year college and a bridge between college and your career path.”

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.

"I served in the United States Navy in San Diego from 2014 to 2021, first on the USS Harpers Ferry and then on the USS Rushmore. When it was time for me to attend college, I chose NCC because it's veteran friendly and offers many different programs.
