Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a group study session facilitated by designated supplemental instructors (SIs), undergraduate students who have previously taken specific “gateway courses” at which they have excelled in academically.
Sessions are prioritized for courses that students traditionally find difficult and are commonly necessary as prerequisites for advanced courses in STEM and health-related majors. With permission from instructors, SIs audit designated courses on a recurring basis and then schedule sessions accordingly, particularly during exam times. SIs consult with the course instructors to generate appropriate and current support based on weekly course content.
Supplemental Instruction can also be utilized to administer group tutorials and review for standardized tests and licensing examinations.
*All Supplemental Instruction sessions for the Fall term will be virtual and are subject to change based on availability.
