Nassau Community College Presents:  "Understanding Eating Disorders" November 4

Garden City, NY— Nassau Community College is proud to present the symposium "Understanding Eating Disorders," which will take place on Friday, November 4 in the College Center Building. The program begins at 9:30 a.m., but attendees can come when they can and leave when they must.

Among the topics to be discussed at the symposium are:

The Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Etiology of Eating DisordersMarisol Gonzalez, MD, MPH – Dr. Gonzalez is currently a second year fellow in Adolescent Medicine at North Shore University Hospital-Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJ).

Medical Evaluation and Complications of Eating DisordersMarigold Castillo, MD – Dr. Castillo is currently a third year fellow in adolescent medicine at Cohen's Children Medical Center.

Nutritional Evaluation and TreatmentNatalie Guarnaschelli, RDMS – Natalie Guarnaschelli is a registered dietician specializing in adolescent eating disorders for North Shore-LIJ's outpatient clinic; Cindy Rabey, RN – Cindy Rabey is a certified holistic nurse who has worked in adolescent medicine for the past 28 years. She was involved in the development and implementation of the North Shore University Hospital Eating Disorder Day Program.

Panel Discussion:  Worries and Woes When You Are Dying to be ThinWhat Does the Evidence Teach Us About the Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa?Victor Fornari, MD – Dr. Fornari is the director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at North Shore-LIJ; Scott Krakower, DO – Scott Krakower is the chief fellow of the child and adolescent psychiatry program at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
