Celebrate Summer Blood Drive at Nassau Community College

Wednesday, May 25 – Public Invited to Participate

Garden City, NY – Nassau Community College (NCC), in conjunction with Nassau University Medical Center, invites members of the community to donate blood during its 21st annual Celebrate Summer Blood Drive, scheduled for Wednesday, May 25th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building on the NCC campus. NCC, in cooperation with Nassau University Medical Center, hopes to supply a substantial percentage of our area’s ongoing need for blood products.  The drive will also reflect the College’s six times a year effort to encourage all able individuals to participate in this vital activity.  Dr. Arthur Friedman, Co-Chair of the NCC Blood Drive Task Force, states, “The Memorial Day holiday begins the summer season, when traffic and other accidents typically create a high demand for blood and blood products.  Many blood donors are on vacation, which decreases the pool of available donors.  Therefore, it’s especially important to have an ample supply on hand.”The donation process takes less than an hour and light refreshments will be served to participants.  Blood donors must be at least 17 years old and in good health.  Donors should come with some photo identification. Although small snacks will be provided, we also ask that donors eat before donating.  For more information about NCC’s annual Celebrate Summer Blood Drive, please call Dr. Friedman at 516.572.7401 x2-6028.Media ContactAlicia Steger 516.572.9634alicia.steger@ncc.eduncc.edu/newsreleasesRef: 1889.5/4/16/150About Nassau Community College Nassau Community College, part of the State University of New York, is an institution where almost 20,000 full- and part-time students and approximately 10,000 continuing and professional students start and continue their successful journey through higher education.  More than 70 fields of study are offered on a 225-acre campus located in the center of Long Island.  As the largest single-campus two-year college in New York State, Nassau Community College maintains a national reputation for excellence.
