Garden City, NY – The Nassau Community College Speech/Debate/Acting Team was crowned regular season champs at the February 27-28 Southern and Northern Atlantic Forensics Union (SNAFU) Championships. SNAFU is similar to an athletic league except it's for speech/debate. The College hosted this year's championship and bested all other colleges by over 100 points, according to Prof. Trent Webb, Director.
Individual honors went to:
Jaslin Kaur – 4th place in Informative Speaking; 3rd place in Communication Analysis (Floral Park)
Conner Buckley – 6th place in Informative Speaking; 1st place SNAFU Champion in Persuasion (Levittown)
Mike Valentino – 5th place in Prose Performance; 2nd place in After-Dinner Speaking; 1st place SNAFU Champion in Informative Speaking (Bellmore)
Randy Perez – 2nd place in Informative Speaking; 1st place SNAFU Champion in Communication Analysis; 2nd place in Persuasion (Queens Village)
Thaicha Branch – 4th place in Drama Performance; 1st place SNAFU Champion in Poetry Performance (Jamaica, Queens)
The team is looking forward to its postseason with tournaments in Kentucky and California. Prof. Webb is extremely proud of its accomplishments thus far.
