Garden City, NY – On Thursday, September 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in rooms 252-253 of the College Center Building, Nassau Community College will conduct its observance of Constitution Day. This year's topic is The Road to Brown: A Triumph of Justice and A Celebration of a Hero's Life.At that time, there will be a presentation of The Road to Brown, which is a film directed by William Elwood that chronicles the struggles that led to the seminal 1954 Supreme Court ruling Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka declaring racial segregation in public schools to be unconstitutional.It also chronicles the life of Charles Hamilton Houston, who, in addition to being at the very forefront on The Road to Brown, was a graduate of Harvard Law School, the Dean of Howard Law School, special counsel of the NAACP, teacher of future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, and "the man who killed Jim Crow."
