Nassau Community College Presents Ndaba Mandela, Grandson of Nelson Mandela 

 

From Prisoner to President: The Mandela Legacy Lives On

Garden City, NY – In celebration of Black History Month, Nassau Community College will present Ndaba Mandela, grandson of the late Nelson Mandela, on Monday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building. During From Prisoner to President: The Mandela Legacy Lives On, Mandela will speak about his experiences with his grandfather, as well as the joy and the strain he feels having the awesome responsibility of the world's expectations to be considered as "the second chapter" of the Mandela story.  Following in the footsteps of his beloved and iconic grandfather, Ndaba Mandela has taken the torch – and run with it. Mandela is co-founder and chairman of Africa Rising Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting a positive image of Africa around the world and increasing its potential for growth in the areas of education, employment and international corporate alliances. Currently, Mandela is organizing the 95th celebration of Nelson Mandela Day as he continues to strive to keep his grandfather's legacy on the world's mind. He was also instrumental in creating the International Day of Happiness at the United Nations.With his one-of-a-kind perspective and dynamic speaking style, Mandela remains true to his grandfather's message. He regales audiences with quips and quotes from his grandfather as teacher and inspirational figure, remembering, "I saw him interact with kings and presidents, and with our household cook. He treated everyone the same. That was his key value."
