We Are All Trayvon Tracy Martin, Father of Trayvon Martin

March 10 Tracy Martin, father of Trayvon Martin

Garden City, NY – Tracy Martin, father of Trayvon Martin, will present We Are All Trayvon on Monday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building at Nassau Community College.  (download hi res image)Since the death of his son Trayvon in 2012 due to a violent confrontation with neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman, Tracy Martin has committed his life to transforming tragedy into a call for national change. Martin’s goal is to encourage fathers from all walks of life to let their sons and daughters know that their lives are valuable and to emphasize the fact that what a person wears does not make up a person’s character, as represented in his son’s iconic hoodie sweatshirt. He discusses the importance of understanding the proper way to handle confrontations. By sharing his personal story, Martin encourages his audience to continue the conversation about civil rights in order to become catalysts for social justice. We Are All Trayvon — which is sponsored by the NCC Cultural Program — is free, open to the public and accessible to the disabled. Please note that seating for this program is limited to current NCC students and staff until 1:55 p.m. For more information about the program, call 516.572.7148.Ref: 1726.2/27/14/180About Nassau Community College Nassau Community College, part of the State University of New York, is an institution where nearly 23,000 full- and part-time students and approximately 10,000 continuing and professional students start and continue their successful journey through higher education.  More than 70 fields of study are offered on a 225-acre campus located in the center of Long Island.  As the largest single-campus two-year college in New York State, Nassau Community College maintains a national reputation for excellence.
