Dr. Jorge Gardyn Re-appointed By Unanimous Vote to NCC Board of Trustees Dr. Jorge Gardyn

Garden City, NY — Dr. Jorge Gardyn of Garden City has been reappointed by a unanimous vote of the Nassau County Legislature to the Nassau Community College Board of Trustees. The vote took place during the legislative session of April 22. (download hi res photo)In his remarks to the County Legislature, Dr. Gardyn stated that “Nassau Community College is one of the gems that the County has” and it “provides a springboard for our young people to be able to make a successful career, to be able to use the education process to further their goals and aspirations and to become productive residents of Nassau County.” He added, “It’s the students who come first, but there is also a fabulous faculty at the College, and there is a wonderful administration all working together.”Dr. Gardyn’s appointment was greeted warmly during the legislative hearing. Legislator Francis X. Becker, Jr. complimented Dr. Gardyn for his community service. “You are a true humanitarian. You truly put people first in your life,” he said. He added, “You’re really a blessing to each and every one of us and a blessing to Nassau County.”County Legislator Dunne joined in by saying of Dr. Gardyn, “You’ve been all over the place and doing so many wonderful things…Keep up the good work.” In commenting on Dr. Gardyn’s commitment to the College Board of Trustees, Legislator Judi Bosworth said, “It’s nice to see that this is going to continue.”Dr. Gardyn is a board certified internist who is currently the Division Chief of Occupational and Corporate Medicine at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. He has been in private practice since 1990, and in 1995 started Island Occupational Medical Resources, which specializes in occupational medical examinations. Dr. Gardyn has been at the forefront of providing quality medical services for the volunteer firefighters of Nassau and Suffolk counties. He is the Medical Director for the Nassau County EMS Academy, the Nassau County Fire Service Academy and the Vocational Educational Extension Board License Practical Nursing Program. Dr. Gardyn also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Educational Center.Dr. Gardyn has also been active over the years in the teaching of medical students, residents, nurse practitioner students and physician assistant students, and has clinical academic appointments to Stony Brook University School of Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and Touro College of Health Sciences.Dr. Gardyn’s term on the Nassau Community College Board of Trustees extends through June of 2019.
