Garden City, NY — Nassau Community College is honored to receive grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and American Library Association to present the documentary film Koran by Heart on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the College Center Building.In this 80-minute documentary, three 10-year old children — two boys and one girl — leave their native countries to participate in one of the Islamic world’s most famous competitions, a test of memory and recitation known as The International Holy Koran Competition. Koran by Heart is a colorful and dramatic saga of human competition, the finals of which are broadcast on live television around the Arab world.This program, which is free, open to the public and accessible to the disabled, is co-sponsored by the Nassau Community College Student Activities Evening Club Hour and the NCC A. Holly Patterson Library. Those who attend should park in a spot designated for student or visitor parking.
