“Robert Hite – Imagined Histories and Other Works” 

January 22 – March 5 "Brother Brother" by Robert Hite

 

Garden City, NY – The Nassau Community College Firehouse Plaza Art Gallery is proud to present the exhibit “Robert Hite – Imagined Histories and Other Works,” which can be viewed from Tuesday, January 22 through Tuesday, March 5.Born in rural Virginia, Robert Hite is inspired by a rich southern narrative tradition and a close affinity to nature. Hite has photographed rural life and landscape in Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe and the southern United States. His paintings, sculptures and photographs are a filtered lens on the natural world, with an eye towards the human and ecological struggle. Hite lives in the Hudson Valley in Esopus, New York, where he works in an 1840s church building that is now his studio.The Nassau Community College Firehouse Plaza Art Gallery is open Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. “Robert Hite – Imagined Histories and Other Works” is free, open to the public and accessible to the disabled.
