Garden City, NY – The Nassau Community College Department of Theatre and Dance will present the drama "Suburbia," written by Eric Bogosian, December 8-9 and 13-16 at the Mainstage Theatre. "Suburbia" centers on a group of twenty-somethings in a convenience store parking lot. The play's main character, Jeff, is an aimless soul unsure of his future. His friends include his would-be artist girlfriend, a recovering alcoholic and a troubled young discharged military man. One evening, Pony — an old friend who is now a rock star — shows up one evening looking to reconnect with the group. "Suburbia" explores what it means to be "other" and why it seems like some have more opportunities, some have more motivation, and still some have nothing at all. Its characters confront the lies and excuses which have kept them trapped in a shallow and meaningless existence. Tickets for "Suburbia" cost $9.00 per person ($7.00 for those 55 and over). They are free for college students with valid current ID who buy them at the door for that performance. Performances are at 8:00 p.m. daily, except for Sunday, when they begin at 3:00 p.m. For more information, or to order tickets, call the Theatre Box Office at 516.572.7676 Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. About Nassau Community College Nassau Community College, part of the State University of New York, is an institution where nearly 24,000 full- and part-time students and almost 15,000 continuing and professional students start and continue their successful journey through higher education.
