Nassau Community College Student Named SUNY Scholar Athlete

 

Garden City, NY – NCC Student Cody Ryan has been named a recipient of a State University of New York (SUNY) 2011-12 Scholar Athlete Award, which recognizes outstanding academic excellence and athletic achievement. Ryan is on the football team at the College."We are very proud of student athletes, like Cody, who have excelled in the classroom and on the athletic field. They merit our praise for their skills and for their persistence," said NCC president Dr. Donald Astrab. SUNY Chancellor Zimpher agreed:  "With an average GPA of 3.6 and a number of championship competitions among them, this year's SUNY scholar athlete awardees are a highly commendable group."In order to be considered for this award, student-athletes were nominated by their campus athletic director.
