Make Dreams Come True for Young Women at the Annual "Prom Boutique"

Dress and Accessories Donations Date:  Sunday, April 22

Garden City, NY – Nassau Community College will once again partner with the Long Island Volunteer Center to host the annual "Prom Boutique," a program that enables individuals and businesses to donate new or gently used prom and bridesmaid dresses for distribution to deserving young women.This program is a major, College-wide initiative that provides NCC students with real world experience in the areas of retailing, visual merchandising, fashion buying, event planning, marketing, and public relations. The event also provides an excellent proving ground for students to learn the importance of social responsibility in the community. Students, faculty and staff from all disciplines of the College volunteer to help with set-up and running of the boutique. This will be the eighth year that Nassau Community College is hosting the Prom Boutique, and people look forward to it year after year as it increases in popularity.The following drop-off sites are available to collect donations of new and gently used dressy dresses, prom gowns, bridesmaid gowns, special occasion shoes, handbags, costume jewelry, and accessories:

  • During store hours (12 noon - 3:00 pm) until Saturday, April 21:
    • A.T. Stewart Exchange Consignment Shop (The Garden City Historical Society Museum)109 Eleventh Street, Garden City
  • During store hours (Mon-Sat 10 am - 9:30 pm; Sun 11 am - 7 pm) until Sunday, April 22:

All donations will be distributed to invited guests only at the Prom Boutique, which include individuals recommended by high school counselors, at-risk youth programs, group homes, and church outreach programs. Nearly 1,000 young women from different schools and organizations across Long Island and the outer boroughs benefit from this program each year.

All donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law, and receipts will be available at drop-off sites.
