Garden City, NY — The Nassau Community College Spring 2012 Cultural Program is proud to present Real Talk About Fake News, a presentation by David Javerbaum, former Executive Producer and Head Writer for "The Daily Show." The program will take place on Wednesday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m. in the College Center Building. Prior to taking the reins as Executive Producer of "The Daily Show," Javerbaum spent four years as head writer for the program. During his tenure on the show, it won nine Emmys, a Peabody Award, and Television Critics Awards for "Best Comedy" and "Best News."An alumnus of "The Harvard Lampoon," Javerbaum began his comedy career writing headlines and stories for the satirical newspaper "The Onion," ultimately conceiving the idea for its first book "Our Dumb Century," a 1999 "New York Times" bestseller and winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor. Javerbaum was also one of three principal authors of "The Daily Show's" textbook parody "America (The Book):  A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction," which sold nearly two million copies and spent a year on "The New York Times" bestseller list. "America" was named "Book of the Year" by "Publishers Weekly" and won a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album.During his presentation, Javerbaum describes his evolution from a kid who sat in the back of the class making fun of authority figures to a grown man who gets paid to do exactly that. He offers a hilarious inside look into television comedy with stories and insights from "The Daily Show." He'll share his views on topical news items, such as:  "The real winner of the Republican primaries is ...
