The Nassau Community College Spring 2012 Cultural Program

Garden City, NY  — Nassau Community College offers the exciting events listed below during its spring 2012 Cultural Program. The programs are free, open to the public and accessible to the disabled. Priority may be given to Nassau Community College students and employees at certain events. For more information about the Cultural Program, call 516.572.7153.Mon., March 5 at 2:00 p.m., College Center Building (CCB) — You Can Swim with the Sharks! — Founder of the iconic fashion brand FUBU, Daymond John is one of the "sharks" on the ABC hit business show "Shark Tank." Take the plunge and talk business with one of today's most successful entrepreneurs.Mon., March 12 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., CCB — "The Kite Runner" — The American Place Theatre's dramatization of the first half of the best selling novel "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini portrays the relationship of two boys — Amir, a privileged Pashtun, and his Hazara servant Hassan. Surprising events occur within the backdrop of 1970s Afghanistan.Wed., March 14 at 12:30 p.m., CCB — Real Talk About Fake News — David Javerbaum, former Executive Producer and Head Writer for "The Daily Show," offers a hilarious inside look into television comedy with stories and insights from "The Daily Show." He'll share his views on topical news items, such as "The real winner of the Republican primaries is ... Barack Obama!"Mon, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., CCB — The Woman Warrior's Journey to Peace — Blurring the lines between myth and reality, fiction and non-fiction, acclaimed writer Maxine Hong Kingston has won many awards for her seven books and anthologies. She is the author of "Woman Warrior," a memoir of growing up Chinese-American in California.
