Garden City, NY — Dr. Catherine Kelly, a Biology professor at Nassau Community College (NCC), was recently made the recipient of this year’s NISOD (National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development) Award for Teaching Excellence. NISOD is the outreach organization of the Community College Leadership Program at the University of Texas-Austin and the League of Innovation in Community Colleges.  The organization supports the pursuit of excellence in teaching and leadership throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and countries around the world.  It encourages faculty at higher education institutions to inspire their students.  More than 700 community colleges around the world are NISOD members. “Dr. Kelly’s commitment to her students and their success provides to us all an example of the commitment that has long been a hallmark of Nassau Community College,” said Dr. Stephen Beck, Chair of the Biology Department at the College.  He added that the award was given to Dr. Kelly following a process of rigorous review.
