January 13, 2025 Garden City, NY - Nassau Community College (NCC) is proud to announce that its radio station, WHPC 90.3 FM – “The Voice of Nassau Community College” – has been voted the 2025 Best Radio Station on Long Island for the fourth straight year by the voters of the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Best of Long Island Awards.
“I am so proud of all of my student and community volunteers, and staff, for once again proving that WHPC is the best!” said Shawn Novatt, WHPC’s Director. “The future of AM/FM radio is looking super bright because every day, our talented broadcasters at Nassau Community College are learning their skills and bringing you unique and amazing programming. Long Island, thank you for recognizing the incredible value we offer – both on the air at 90.3FM and online through the WHPC app.”
Nassau Community College’s radio station is home to approximately 100 volunteers, most of whom are NCC students. Its programming includes sports, entertainment, and informational shows, including a variety of music shows featuring everything from pop and rock to polka and Italian formats. The station can be heard at 90.3 FM and worldwide through the iHeartRadio, Audacy, TuneIn, and ‘WHPC’ apps, as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices (say “Play WHPC!”). It is the only college radio station in Nassau and Suffolk to broadcast in high definition.
For 20 years, The Best of Long Island Awards have showcased across diverse categories whom Long Islanders consider the best in education, entertainment, businesses, individuals and locales.
