January 22, Garden City, NY – On Monday night, January 20, millions watched the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Atlanta as the Ohio State Buckeyes took on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Perhaps less well known than the opposing teams is the local connection of two of the Ohio State football coaches. New York metro area locals Mike Sollenne and Sean Binckes, both Offense Graduate Assistants, formerly served as coaches at Nassau Community College.

Massapequa native Mike Sollenne was the offensive line coach/run game coordinator at Nassau Community College from 2016-18. While Binckes also held the title of offensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach throughout his tenure at Nassau, he moved to the offensive line in 2019. Binckes played tight end at LIU Post from 2012-16 where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in health sciences. He went on to receive a master’s degree in recreation and sports management from FIU.
