Garden City, NY, November 6, 2024 – The Art Department at Nassau Community College hosted a Professional Development Day for 22 East Meadow School District Art Teachers, from elementary school through high school, on November 5, 2024.
The Professional Development Day included group sessions of a Book Making Workshop with Art Professor Carolyn Monastra in NCC’s on-campus Plaza Art Gallery and a Raku Firing Workshop with Professor Bill Shillalies. In addition to the workshops, teachers toured throughout the NCC campus, including the school’s two theatre’s featuring fashion design and other programs supporting campus productions.
The Professional Development workshops are part of a community-based initiative to support arts education throughout Long Island by offering opportunities for both educators and students to visit the NCC campus and collaborate with faculty.
