Garden City, NY, November 21, 2024– Nassau Community College faculty, students, administrators and SUNY officials joined together for a press conference highlighting the benefits and expansion of the Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) program, a transformative two-year model that has been widely demonstrated to increase student completion rates and narrow opportunity gaps.
ASAP students shared stories of how the programs, which include financial assistance, personalized academic advising, career development, and community-building activities, have helped them be successful in their degree pursuits. To date, Nassau Community College has supported 162 students and received $1.1 Million through the ASAP Program.
“We are proud that NCC currently has more than 160 students in the ASAP program, providing support to students in our community that will help them thrive here at NCC and graduate on their path to a successful career,” Dr. Conzatti, Chief Administrative Officer, Nassau Community College, said. “NCC is grateful for Governor Hochul, the NYS Legislature, our partners at SUNY, and everyone who has supported the historic investment in this program.”
This proven national student success model is funded through the $75 million SUNY Transformation Fund, championed by Governor Kathy Hochul and the state Legislature as part of an historic investment of state resources in the SUNY system and supplemented by private philanthropic grants. The programs further SUNY’s pillars of advancing student success and upward mobility through broadening access to a quality, affordable higher education. This Fall, 4,200 students across 25 SUNY campuses have been enrolled in the program.
