Nassau Community College to Highlight Participation in
National Student Success Model to Improve Support,
Retention, and Completion

State Investment Enables ASAP to Empower Students with Financial, Academic,
& Personal Support to Boost Graduation Rates, Close Opportunity Gaps

Garden City, NY October 24 – NCC faculty, students, administrators and SUNY officials on November 1, 10:00 am in the College Center Building (CCB) will join Nassau Community College leaders in highlighting the benefits and expansion of the Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP), a transformative two-year model that has been widely demonstrated to increase student completion rates and narrow opportunity gaps.

Participating ASAP students will share their stories of how the programs, which include financial assistance, personalized academic advising, career development, and community-building activities, help them be successful in their degree pursuits. To date, Nassau Community College has supported 162 students and received $1.1 Million through the ASAP Program.

This proven national student success model is funded through the $75 million SUNY Transformation Fund, championed by Governor Kathy Hochul and the state Legislature as part of an historic investment of state resources in the SUNY system. The programs further SUNY’s pillars of advancing student success and upward mobility through broadening access to a quality, affordable higher education.

The event will include remarks from Dr. Maria Conzatti, Chief Administrative Officer at Nassau Community College, Donna Linderman, SUNY Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Success as well as state and local officials.

The programs were expanded to the SUNY system in Spring 2024, supported by an historic demonstration of state-level support from the $75 million SUNY Transformation Fund and supplemented by private and philanthropic grants. In Fall 2024, SUNY ASAP|ACE will enroll 4,200 students across 25 SUNY campuses.

Media interested in attending the event should RSVP to Gail Mattimore at gail.mattimore@ncc.edu.
