Nassau Community College to Celebrate
Class of 2024 on May 22

May 16, Garden City, NY – Bring on the pomp and circumstance! Nassau Community College, a campus of the State University of New York, will celebrate its 64th annual commencement ceremony on Wednesday evening, May 22, at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.

Nassau’s Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Maria P. Conzatti will confer nearly 2,300 associate’s degrees and certificates at the ceremony, which will be streamed live on the college’s website at ncc.edu/graduation beginning at 7 p.m.

“We are excited to celebrate the unstoppable class of 2024,” said Dr. Conzatti, who is a 1986 alumnus of Nassau Community College (NCC). “These degrees and certificates represent the hard work, resilience and commitment to excellence by our students. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and look forward to witnessing the impact they will make in the world.”

The CEO of Xerox, Steve Bandrowczak, who graduated from Nassau in 1985 with an associate’s degree in data processing, will return to his alma mater to deliver the commencement address.

Kyle Castellano of Elmont is the valedictorian of the class of 2024. The Computer Science major achieved a 4.0 average and was active in the Association for Computing Machinery Club, the Engineering Society and the Mathematics and Computers Club.

The salutatorian for the 2024 commencement ceremony is Michelle Lanfant, a Liberal Arts major from Port Washington. A recipient of a SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, Lanfant plans to study French at SUNY Binghamton in the fall.

Included among the class of 2024 are five sets of twins, two parent-child combinations, three couples, and several sets of siblings.

Pandora and Douglas Groth, a married couple from East Meadow, are graduating in 2024. Pandora is graduating with a liberal arts degree and Douglas with an A.A.S. in Civil Engineering Technology. “Working full-time while attending college would have only been possible for us at NCC,” said Douglas. “It offers the board-accredited degrees that we are seeking, and the convenience and flexibility of evening and weekend classes.” After graduating, Pandora will be continuing her education in the NCC/SUNY Empire BS Nursing program and Douglas will be attending SUNY Farmingdale to complete a B.S. in Civil Engineering Technology.

Brothers Connor and Sean Dalton of Island Park chose to attend Nassau Community College because it was close to home and it was recommended by an alumnus. Connor is a Graphic Art major; Sean's major is Sound Engineering. “Our experience at the college was both challenging and rewarding,” said Connor. “Sean and I would definitely recommend NCC to anyone with a disability because they will be able to take advantage of all of the resources available at the Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD). The CSD has certainly helped my brother and I, making it possible for us to complete an education in our dream fields.” After graduating, Connor and Sean plan to pursue careers in their respective professions.

Affordability, convenience, a great reputation, and the nursing program attracted Donia and Victoria Fray to the college. “NCC has contributed to our growth tremendously and has set us up for a bright future ahead. We are forever grateful to the professors who shared their knowledge with us. Nassau Community College was definitely the right choice for us,” said Donia. The sisters plan to take the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) and begin their nursing careers after graduating.

Nassau Community College’s 2024 Commencement Ceremony will be live streamed at ncc.edu/myncc/graduation.
