Competition Donation Provides Funds for 30 Qualified Students to Attend Nassau
& Suffolk Community College for the Fall 2023 Semester
July 24, 2023, Garden City, NY — The DREAM Foundation will announce its 2023 scholarship competition for immigrant students on Long Island during a news conference to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, at Nassau Community College, 363 Rice Circle, Garden City, NY 11530. The scholarships will be awarded to immigrant students who have outstanding academic records and have contributed to their communities. State and county officials, Long Island community leaders, and representatives from local schools and colleges will be in attendance.
The DREAM Foundation will grant a total of $30,000 in scholarships to incoming or current college students from Long Island who do not qualify for federal grant and loan assistance due to their immigration status. Eligible students include DACA and TPS beneficiaries. $15,000 will be allocated to students attending Nassau Community College and $15,000 to students attending Suffolk Community College for the Fall 2023 semester.
In 2016 the Foundation awarded scholarships for $30,000, in 2017 $40,000 and in 2018 $50,000. Since 2012 the foundation has awarded nearly $200,000. In previous years the foundation awarded scholarships to immigrant students from all countries, this is the first year that we are doing only for Latino immigrant students.
The DREAM Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that was established in 2012.
