Hear From Playwright David Lamb at a Talkback Session & Reception
on February 19 Following the Performance
WHO: The Nassau Community College Theater and Dance Department and the Africana Studies Department present Platanos Y Collard Greens, directed by Danielle Criss. Special Talkback Session & Reception, sponsored by the Alumni Association, the Student Organization of Latinos, and the Black History Month Committee, scheduled for February 19 immediately following the performance.
WHAT: Platanos Y Collard Greens is a romantic comedy about what happens when an African American and a Latina college student fall in love. Threaded by the culture of Hip-Hop, the lovers defend their relationship, as friends and family learn that this food fight calls for fusion instead of feud.
“The Platanos Y Collard Greens Ensemble has the beautiful and unique opportunity to embody their authenticity by tapping into the characters in Lamb’s original work. The script has acted as a mirror to the ensemble’s lives, giving them a fruitful theatrical and cultural experience. This production celebrates African American, Latinx, and Hip-Hop cultures in a way that brings us all together and uplifts the beauty of the Nassau Community College community,” said Director Danielle Criss.
