Garden City, NY — The Nassau Community College Black History Committee will present W.E.B. Du Bois: A Man For All Times, a play about the life and times of the great civil rights activist, on Wednesday, February 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building.
W.E.B. Du Bois: A Man For All Times, a biographical play by Alexa Kelly, is a one-man show featuring actor Brian Richardson as W.E.B. Du Bois. It recounts and often reenacts the odyssey of Du Bois' life. The play draws on Du Bois' promising ambitions as a young Harvard University student (the first African American in that position), as well as the harsh rejections that gradually awaken him to his own circumstance. It lets the audience in on musings and anecdotes that they will be enthralled to hear.
A Man For All Times is well researched, and extends a warm invitation to both delight in Du Bois' successes and mourn with him the unavoidable losses. It describes a man for our times as well, in an era when the value of black lives has regrettably been an open question. W.E.B. Du Bois: A Man For All Times is free, open to the public and accessible to the disabled. For more information about the play, call 516.572.7376.
