Garden City, NY – The Nassau Community College Spring 2018 Speaker Series program A Civil Conversation on Gun Control, Immigration, and Russia: Is It Possible? will take place on Monday, April 23, at 12:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the
College Center Building. During the program, CNN political commentators Bakari Sellers
and Alice Stewart will debate these important issues.
CNN Political Commentator Bakari Sellers has championed progressive policies since
his election to the South Carolina state legislature at age 22. Time magazine named
him one of its "40 Under 40," and he is a rising star in the national Democratic party.
After earning his law degree from the University of South Carolina, Sellers followed
in the footsteps of his father, civil rights leader Cleveland Sellers. Sellers practices
law in South Carolina and serves on American Israel Public Affairs Committee's National
Council.
CNN Political Commentator and Emmy Award-winning journalist Alice Stewart has been
the Communications Director for several Republican presidential candidates, including
Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Michelle Bachman. She regularly appears as a guest on
State of the Union with Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper 360, among other programs. Stewart has worked on communications strategy for Concerned
Women for America, the Republican National Senatorial Committee and the Republican
National Congressional Committee, as well as other organizations and candidates.
